Bill has his head up his ...he needs to learn the immigration laws, they is no way a lawyer can fix the situation for a same sex couple. Actually the only way would be a fraudulent arrangement! If you use his argument, we shouldn't let straight people bring they love ones here because you can't prove their commitment.
How did that guy get his own show???

From a humanitarian perspective, our fellow human beings, who migrate to the UK, continue to suffer at the hands of immigration policies that separate them from loved ones. This suffering should not continue.
@ Green Card Unfortunately that is all too often the case with immigration officials around the world. I must admit thought that I am envious that in UK you can sponsor your same-sex partner for immigration purposes unlike here in the very backward USA.

I don't think that sexual orientation should factor into attaining a green card visa. Unfortunately, most of the states do not recognize gay marriages. So, the solution seems to be state based. You should be allowed to do this if the state you live in recognizes it. This seems to be the most simple and just solution.

I agree that sexual orientation should not be part of the consideration for a green card. Unfortunately, even if every state in the US passed equal marriage laws you still wouldn't be able to get a green card because green cards are handled by the Federal Government in the USA which have to abide by the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) to which we can thank former President Bill Clinton. Under DOMA the Federal Government does not recognize any marriage other than one between one man and one woman.
The Uniting American Family Act (UAFA) http://www.immigrationequality.org/template.php?pageid=49 would change the law and get around DOMA.
