How I feel...hm...I feel saddened, but also grateful that nobody was hurt. Usually when you hear about hate crimes they invole the hate being taken out on a queer person's body instead of their home. So, it sucks: yes. But it could've been worse.
I wonder if the teenagers are charged with anything, what will their punishment be? What should it be?

Ugh! Well, as someone from Western Maine I have to say that most people are are very accepting, and thus it is embarrassing that something like this happened. Granted, Poland is a very small town, but it is only about 40 minutes from Portland, Maine (one of the most liberal cities in the country, and with a higher per capita homosexual rate than many of the cities you might expect. Consistently ranked nationally as one of the best small cities to call home, Portland has emerged as one of the most diverse and exciting cities in the nation. The Advocate recently named Portland as the "Eighth Gayest City in America." I am personally a resident of Portland, though originally from an area on the other side of Poland. When it comes down to it, no state wants to claim the embarrassing hicks who might give it a bad name. Mainers are generally extremely open-minded, at least in the more populous counties. I might be less surprised about a story from a more rural region of the state, as Poland is not that far from civilization. These were just dumb teens, and certainly not representative of Mainers.
